N9AAdmission (Specified Amount)

Filed by a defendant who admits all or part of a money claim and either pays in full or requests time to pay by instalments.

Who uses this form

Defendants served with an N1 claim form who wish to admit the debt and either pay immediately or propose a payment schedule.

When to use it

Complete and return within 14 days of being served with the claim. If you admit part only, indicate the amount you admit and complete N9B for the disputed part.

Where to file

Return to the court address shown on the claim form. The court forwards it to the claimant who can then accept or reject your payment proposal.

Court fee

Free.

Common mistakes to avoid

Returning the form after the 14-day deadline — the claimant may have already obtained default judgment

Failing to complete the financial statement section fully — the court needs this to assess an instalment offer

Not signing the statement of truth at the end

Sending the form directly to the claimant rather than the court

Admitting the full claim when you only admit part — complete N9B for any disputed amount
