Under section 111 of the Licensing Act 2003, a 'personal licence' is a licence granted to an individual which authorises that individual to supply alcohol, or to authorise the supply of alcohol, in accordance with a premises licence.
Personal licence applications and guidance are administered by the Home Office, with applications made to the individual's local licensing authority. Applicants generally need an accredited licensing qualification before they can be granted a personal licence.
