Terms of Use
Last updated: 21 May 2026
1. Acceptance
By accessing or using uklawreference.com (the "Site"), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.
2. No legal advice
The Site is a free educational reference. We are not a law firm, are not authorised by the Solicitors Regulation Authority or the Bar Standards Board, do not represent clients, and do not provide legal advice. Nothing on the Site constitutes legal advice for your specific circumstances. Reading the Site does not create a solicitor–client (or any other professional) relationship.
If you have a live legal problem, consult a regulated lawyer or a recognised free legal advice service (see Find Help).
3. Accuracy and currency
UK law changes frequently. We make reasonable efforts to keep content current and to display a last reviewed date on every substantive page. However, content may be out of date or contain errors. You must check primary sources (such as legislation.gov.uk) and take regulated advice before acting on anything you read here.
4. Jurisdiction
Unless stated otherwise, content focuses on the law of England and Wales. Scotland, Northern Ireland, and the devolved jurisdictions have their own legal systems and many statutes either do not apply or apply with modifications. Always check the jurisdiction label on every page and consult a local lawyer where the matter spans more than one UK jurisdiction.
5. Templates and tools
Letter templates, calculators, and other interactive tools are starting points only. They reflect general principles and assumptions about typical facts. Always tailor them to your situation and consider taking regulated advice before using them in formal proceedings. We disclaim all liability for outcomes arising from their use.
6. Intellectual property and reuse
Original editorial content on the Site is © UK Law Reference. You may quote short extracts for educational, journalistic, or academic purposes with attribution and a link back. Bulk copying, scraping, or republishing for commercial gain is prohibited without written permission.
AI training: see our ai.txt for the permissions we extend to AI crawlers. Use beyond what that file allows requires written permission.
7. Third-party links
We link to external sources (legislation.gov.uk, GOV.UK, BAILII, regulators, judiciary.uk, and similar) for your convenience. We are not responsible for the content of third-party sites and do not endorse them.
8. No warranty, no liability
The Site is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all liability for any loss arising from your use of, or reliance on, the Site. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
9. Privacy
See our Privacy Notice for what data we collect and why. We do not collect identifying information about Site visitors beyond what is necessary to operate the Site and analytics about aggregate usage.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Site after a change constitutes acceptance. The Last updated date at the top shows the most recent revision.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
12. Contact
See Contact for the right email address for corrections, suggestions, or partnerships.
