DSAR Deadline Calculator
Calculate the statutory response deadline for a Data Subject Access Request (DSAR) under UK GDPR Article 12(3) — one calendar month, extendable by two further months for complex or numerous requests.
Important: This tool provides general guidance only and does not constitute legal advice. Limitation periods and legal deadlines are strictly enforced — missing them can permanently bar your claim. Always verify key dates with a qualified solicitor before relying on this output. Laws and court fee scales change; confirm current figures on the relevant official government website.
When to use this tool
Use as soon as you submit a DSAR to a controller, or if you are a controller who has received a DSAR. The one-month clock starts on the day the request is received. If the controller intends to extend, they must notify you within the first month with reasons. Failure to respond is a breach reportable to the ICO.
DSAR Deadline Calculator
Under UK GDPR Article 12(3), a controller must respond to a Data Subject Access Request within one calendar month of receipt. This can be extended by up to two further months for complex or numerous requests — but the controller must notify you of the extension within the first month.
The one-month period starts on the day the controller receives the request. If submitted by email, this is the day it arrives in their inbox.
