Section 5 — NHS England mandate: cancer outcome targets

(1) Section 13A of the National Health Service Act 2006 (mandate) is amended in accordance with subsection (2).

(2) After subsection (2), insert the following new subsection— (2A) The objectives specified by the Secretary of State under subsection (2)(a) for NHS England must include objectives relating to outcomes for cancer patients, and those objectives are to be treated by NHS England as having priority over any other objectives relating specifically to cancer.
