Section 97 — General duties of the Health and Social Care Information Centre etc

(1) The Health and Social Care Act 2012 is amended as follows.

(2) In section 253(1) (general duties of the Information Centre)—

(a) omit the “and” at the end of paragraph (ca);

(b) after paragraph (ca) insert— (cb) the need to promote the effective and efficient planning, development and provision of health services and of adult social care in England, ;

(c) at the end of paragraph (d) insert , and (e) the need to balance the needs mentioned in this subsection against one another, so far as they compete.

(3) In section 261(1A) (other dissemination of information), for “the purposes of” substitute “purposes connected with”.
