Section 29A — Appointment of commissioners by the mayor

(1) [F1 The mayor for the area of a CCA may appoint not more than 10 persons—]

(a) [F1 to assist the mayor in the exercise of the mayor’s general functions in relation to the areas of competence, and]

(b) [F1 to otherwise assist the mayor in relation to the exercise by the CCA of functions which relate to the areas of competence.]

(2) [F1 A person appointed under this section is referred to in this Chapter as a “commissioner”.]

(3) [F1 Schedule 2A makes provision about commissioners.]

(4) [F1 In this section and Schedule 2A “area of competence” has the meaning given by section 2 of the English Devolution and Community Empowerment Act 2026.]
