The Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Act 2022 (Commencement No. 9) Regulations 2026

These Regulations bring into force specified provisions of the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Act 2022 (c. 32) (“ the Act ”). They are the ninth commencement regulations made under the Act.

Regulation 2 brings section 81 of the Act into force on 29th June 2026. Section 81 repeals the Vagrancy Act 1824 (c. 83) which created a range of offences relating to begging and rough sleeping. Section 81 also makes a number of amendments to other legislation consequential on that repeal.

A full impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as no, or no significant, impact on the private, voluntary or public sector is foreseen.
