The National Health Service (Pharmaceutical Services) (Wales) Regulations 2020 ( S.I. 2020/1073 (W. 241) ) (“ the 2020 Regulations ”) govern the provision of pharmaceutical services as part of the National Health Service in Wales under Part 7 of the National Health Service (Wales) Act 2006 (c. 42) .

These Regulations make amendments to the 2020 Regulations in relation to the terms of service for NHS pharmacists who provide pharmaceutical services, in particular to provide for the removal of certain supervision requirements to align with the Human Medicines Regulations 2012 ( S.I. 2012/1916 ) and the Medicines Act 1968 (c. 67) (regulation 2(3)(e) and (g)) and set out a new requirement for the provision of workforce information to Local Health Boards (regulation 2(3)(h)).

These Regulations also make amendments to the 2020 Regulations to correct errors of a technical nature (regulation 2(2), (3)(a) to (d), (3)(f) and (4)).

The Welsh Ministers’ Code of Practice on the carrying out of Regulatory Impact Assessments was considered in relation to these Regulations. As a result, a regulatory impact assessment has been prepared as to the likely costs and benefits of complying with these Regulations.
