Explanatory note

Reproduced verbatim from the instrument as published on legislation.gov.uk (Crown Copyright, Open Government Licence v3.0). The note is prepared by the responsible government department and is not part of the instrument itself.

Part 2 of the Terrorism Act 2000 (c. 11) makes provision about proscribed organisations (including the offences in respect of such organisations set out in sections 11 to 13). An organisation is proscribed if it is listed in Schedule 2 to that Act or operates under the same name as an organisation so listed (section 3(1)).

Section 3 (6) of that Act (as inserted by section 22(2) of the Terrorism Act 2006 (c. 11) ) enables the Secretary of State, by order, to provide that a name which is not specified in Schedule 2 to the Act is to be treated as another name for an organisation listed in that Schedule. Article 2 of this Order exercises this power to specify other names for the listed organisations referred to in that article.

A full impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as no, or no significant, impact on the private, voluntary, or public sector is foreseen.
