This Order is the first commencement order made under the Bus Services (Wales) Act 2026 (“ the Act ”).

This Order brings sections 5(1)(a), (b), (2) and (3), 6, 7, 8, 9 and 34 of the Act into force on 30 June 2026. Sections 5(1)(a), (b), (2) and (3), 6, 7, 8 and 9 make provision in relation to the preparation, publication, review and revision of the Welsh Bus Network Plan. Section 5(6) and (7) is already in force in accordance with section 48(1)(b) of the Act. Section 34 amends section 66 of the Transport Act 1985 to exclude local authorities in Wales from the restriction, imposed by that section, in respect of the provision of local bus services by a local authority.
